Morning comes early
three, four, five, five-ten a.m.
sleep baby please sleep.
Bleary mommy naps
wrapped under a sweatshirt
on the comfy couch.
Happy baby laughs
swatting mommy with his hand.
Wake up mommy, smack!
Five is too early
Sleep baby, please let me sleep.
Smack please baby, smack.

Wow you are a good haiku-er! I struggle to kick out one verse.
I feel you on the sleep - Daylight Savings Time has saved me from weekend mornings of 5:45 or 6am, instead I get 6:45 or 7 which is a little more do-able.
Ha - your haiku is so familiar. I feel like that every morning! Hope your little one learns to sleep or at least lets you! Happy Friday!
Ah yes. The eternal battle of sleep. They usually win...
Ugh. I remember those days so well. Hang in there. It does get better. Hope you have a wonderful nights rest tonight!
Love the haiku and I so know your pain. Hope you get some uninterrupted rest soon.
I know how you feel. And, I hope you get some quality sleep this weekend. If only the kids slept like teenagers when they first arrive, right?
it gets better (it also can get worse, but we won't talk about that).
eventually, they want to sleep all day and you are the one swatting them awake!!!
I feel the same way about my dog waking me up at o'dark thirty. I know it's not the same, but it's the only thing I can compare it to.
Ahhh . . I have chanted the same mantra many times . . sleep, baby please sleep.
Sleeping schedules
out of whack until they ‘sync’ …
I do feel for you.
Hugs and blessings,
