Riding on the short bus...

I am a piece of shit.

One who puts her kids at risk for kidnapping by flashing her high earning profession (oh yes, we environmental attorneys are raking in the dough, just ask the creditors from my student loan company) and pictures of her kids on the internet. They are a ransom just waiting to happen.

I am all over the place, and I can't get it together.

At least that is what the new full time reviewer, Queen Mutha, over at Ask and Ye Shall Receive had to say. Really, what does one say to that? "There's no accounting for taste?" My knee jerk reaction was "Well fuck you!" but really, I was the idiot who asked for the opinion of a bunch of reviewers at Iwillfuckingtearyouapart.blogspot.com. That was all me.

Seriously though, having thought about it, there is some truth to what she had to say. I am all over the place, I don't have my shit together. That is just my life. I am trying to create a world in which I can practice law and stay home with my kids. As it turns out, like many SAHM's discovered before me, the kids just take over. I have accepted and settled one case in one year. Luckily for me, I was able to take this time out and spend it with my babies, but there hasn't been much law for me to write about. There has been parenting to write about, and memes to play in, and hardships to discuss, but not much law.

Happily that will change, and as it does, I will be able to express my frustrations with working and parenting, law and motherhood. For now, it's just motherhood.

I do think I need a new template, but I have been having a hard time finding one that has a low learning curve. I just don't have time to spend hours on my template right now. I will keep looking though, for something cleaner, and attempt to balance the stuff I want to point out to people with a clean look.

Some good comes of all things. That review pissed me off. It made me look back over my blog, and the past two years. It made me feel protective of my words, and the feelings I have shared. It turns out, I like myself. I like my blog. As it is.

I don't care if I no one subscribes to it, or if only my mother and few stalwart friends read it. I am going to keep riding the short bus, with a smile.

Forgot the reviewer. He/she/it is an idiot anyway. I like your blog, so nuts to him/her/it! Paul

OH my word! I have never heard of that OTHER blog! Yikes. They are mean and would most likely have me in the corner crying:) I am WAY too sensitive for that and you are taking that review very nicely!! Well, for what it's worth I love your blog. It really shows that being a Mom isn't easy and we have to be all over the place!! HEE!!

Wow, Mama, that was harsh. Too harsh, if you ask me but I *like* mommy blogs. It's good to hear different view points and know that I am not alone in my struggle for peace and harmony in my home. It's also fun to live vicariously through another, in another state, with a child of a different sex, etc.
I subscribe to your blog through Google ~ so it wasn't your hubby :)
I'm not sure who this person was or why they reviewed your blog (I have never heard of it either). I usually judge my own content on the amount of comments or emails about my blog I get. And personally, my blog is for me ~ more of a way to keep in touch with friends and family out of state and also a journal ~ an easier way to document than pen and paper, what goes on in our lives. I don't know that I'd want someone to rip it apart but I'm sure that person would find it very rip apartable. :)
I, too, love your blog and will continue to come back for more!

Ouch.

She's a meanie.

I like your blog. I get how scattered our lives are being mommies.

Ignore.... go on being you. I'll keep reading even though I don't "subscribe" to your blog.

Wow. Not sure I would be able to handle that review. But for some reason and am thinking of submitting my blog.
I like coming here and reading - though I don't always comment.

I disagree with her.

Poo-poo on her.

If you like your blog, then that's all that counts. Screw the rest of them. :)

Grats on handling the review with dignity. You could have been way more bitter.

WTF?

You asked them to review you on purpose? Wow. I can't even imagine why. Do you like them or respect them or their writing?

Motherhood is a mash up of all kinds of activities. Writing about it will be as well. So your blog title appears to be a misnomer currently. Dooce has a title that doesn't make sense AT ALL, and yet she's terribly popular.

Change your blog layout if you want, or don't. You have readers and will accumulate more over time. Just keep writing about your reality and you will continue to touch others experiencing the same issues and keeping in touch with those of us back home.

Thanks for all the virtual hugs and support guys! It is greatly appreciated.

I discovered 'Ask' when Maria from Immoral Matriarch was reviewed on it. It seemed like an interesting little meme to participate in, and I submitted my blog mainly out of morbid curiosity. (I also have a hard time resisting a good dare.)

All in all, I wouldn't call it a bad experience. It's been a long time since someone made me want to hit them that hard, but I did get some useful info out of it.

I have wanted a new template for a while, and have been working to transfer over to Wordpress. It's just a pain in the ass to learn a new blog engine. Ugh. Now it's hard to put it off much longer. It really is too busy.

I don't plan on altering my writing style. I found my voice some time ago and don't see any reason to change it to improve the opinion of a few blog reviewers.

As for submitting to them...
If you have as hard a time resisting a dare as I do, and have rhinoceros hide for skin, you may get a kick out of the adrenaline rush.

Thanks again for all the love, I am sending it right back at you.

Wow, came over from Ask and ye shall receive. Maybe she was having a really bad day, or she takes blogging more seriously than I do. My blog is all about rambling, my viewpoint is that if you don't like it, move it. It's a blog, not the Economist.

Having said that, I like your blog! And you handled the review really well. I would have cried.

Keep up the good work!

P.s.

And you got a new reader out of it. :-P

Thanks Sherrie! What is your blog's address so I can come check it out? I love rambling!

It is just *wrong* to think there is a *right* way for a blog to look. The blog phenomenon is its own thing! Blogs are supposed to embrace diversity. Not stifle it!

I love the way your blog looks, LAM. I have loved its many changes over the past year or so. So cheers to you.

Ahem . . now that I said all that about embracing diversity, I'll add that they are entitled to their opinion over there at IWillTrashTourBlog.com (or whatever it's called). If I ever find it interesting to read their opinions, I'll seek them out.

I am SO glad there's no Editor General with power over the blogosphere . .

Hey, how come my spell checker doesn't recognize the word "blogosphere?" Hmmm . . .

Don't worry about what other people think Misty! Someone will always have something to say about everything. My friend Megan used to say opinions are like &$#holes, everyone has one and the majority of them stink haha.
